The present work is a collection of essays by authoritative Italian and foreign scholars that address the unpublished critical and historiographical path of the multiple interests of Giovanni Carbonara. The essays are divided into four sections: Theory, methods and general themes of History and Restoration of Architecture, collecting topics of theoretical reflection, but also method; History and representation of architecture and the city, with essays dealing with topics ranging from antiquity to the contemporary era; Restoration and the protection of monuments, a section in which develops together with themes of the history of restoration, more properly design aspects, alongside and beyond restoration, to extend the interest to the environmental context; training for restoration: international reflections and method experiences in which the multiple aspects of the discipline are investigated, with particular reference to teaching and operational practice.
