Reisun By: N. DuPree Bossie Have you ever felt like a ghost walking through the lives of your family and friends, barely noticed, barely acknowledged, alone in a crowd of people? Feeling as though you have fallen into the deepest, darkest well of despair with only a pinhole of light above you? Sometimes, not even that. Nate and Trevor are two young men suffering from various degrees of depression and anxiety. From completely diverse backgrounds and cultures, the ways their families chose to deal with their mental illnesses are quite different. Nate simply wants to disappear, no longer a burden to his family or the world, while Trevor finds himself on a mission to share his hurt with others. When Nate's mother adopts and introduces a new canine companion into Nate's life as a means of giving him something outside of himself to care about, he never imagined that his life would be changed forever. The dog, Reisun, formerly known as Blackie, is a powerful ancient creature that shares his extraordinary abilities with the two boys. He has the ability to communicate, share one persons feelings with another, run at high rates of speed, he's incredibly strong and he can even fly. But even Reisun isn't truly aware of just how powerful he is. With Reisuns newly discovered secret and abilities Nate is now forced to view the world in a different light while Trevor continues to fight with his personal demons. The boys quickly realize that they can be so much more then they believe themselves to be after working with Reisun to rescue Nate's sister from a gator attack. Though things appear to settle down for Nate with the addition of his new companion... Reisun's past is haunted and he himself is hunted by a man known only as 'The Stranger', Reisun's original owner. The Stranger knows of the dogs abilities and plans to get him back by any means necessary. The Stranger tracks Reisun to his new home and confronts Nate's mother about the dog. He begins lurking around the home and family and both Reisun and the boys agree that something must be done. They decide to lure The Stranger into the woods where they are familiar with the landscape and would have the upper hand. With Reisun by their side there was no way The Stranger could win or could he?
