Homicide, hostages, terrorism, and vampires are all in a day's work for Sam Marlowe, an investigator with the Federal Division of Interspecies Crime. Now, he is being targeted by unknown forces and they are threatening the vampire he loves. Every time one question is answered, two more are asked and the only way he has to get the answers he needs is to travel to a notorious vampire prison in Romania and place his trust in those who operate outside the law. Love, murder, sex, and betrayal all come to bear as Sam tries to keep the ones he cares about alive.
