A high-powered Manhattan lawyer takes her husband hostage when he announces that he's leaving her for a younger woman in this comedy starring Meg Ryan and Timothy Hutton. Louise (Ryan) is a hard-working professional, but a romantic weekend in the country with her husband, Ian (Hutton), may be just the thing to recharge her batteries and get the flames of passion burning again. Everything starts to fall apart, though, when Ian tells Louise that he's dissolving their marriage of 13 years to run away with a younger woman (Kristen Bell). Unusually cool-headed after such a monumental revelation, Louise calmly tells Ian that he's not leaving their country home until he's professed his love for her and committed himself to salvaging their marriage. When an opportunistic gardener (Justin Long) and Ian's younger mistress show up at the vacation house unexpectedly, the situation quickly goes south, forcing the couple to reconcile their past and make a realistic assessment of their future.
