This book comprises the sonnets (575 in all) and other selected poems (25 additional poems) of Lloyd George Hall. The sonnets explore a variety of rhyme structures that include the Italian or Petrarchan, English or Shakespearean, and Spenserian formats and variants thereof. From a topic perspective, the sonnets are divided into eight thematic categories that include the military experience, commentaries on life in general, young love, word play, and the poetic process. In particular, the military experience category addresses to a large degree Mr. Hall's time as a navigator on a B-24 Liberator bomber in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The other selected poems cover a diversity of poetic structures and a similarly broad range of topic themes. The book was edited by Mr. Hall's son, John A. Hall, and includes a Foreword and extensive notes to provide contexts, where applicable, for each poem.
