This 2023 release offers three talents of , one of a marvelous family of musicians that includes the guitar/composer duo of . isn't even the main attraction on this multifaceted Brazilian collection; the gets top billing. is present as a composer (of the constantly interesting ), as a vocal interpreter of songs by , and, more unusually, as an arranger; all the music, except for the of , is arranged by for voice and string quartet. She's every bit the singer her relatives are, with fun, seductive readings of and a terrific song. The quartets of are, in general, not heard often enough, and this one, a spiky, edgy thing mixing Brazilian rhythms with a modernist attitude, is terrific, with only claustrophobic sound engineering to mar the experience. Best of all are 's arrangements of the songs, which somewhat resemble the 's experiments with pop music. They are fully thought through and maintain a consistent tone. This release is a must for lovers of Brazilian music and for fans of the endlessly creative family, and it is highly listenable for anyone. ~ James Manheim
