Striking Silence takes place in northeastern Minnesota in the small town of Blanchard. The weeklong story tells the backstories of those lost, damaged, loved, and hated. Lindsey Olson, a Realtor, asleep in her 'under construction' house, is unaware of the double danger waiting for her outside: a dangerous thunderstorm and a stranger standing in her backyard. The man strikes while the vicious storm covers the frightening sounds of his attack on Lindsey. He got his revenge. Several other female residents of Blanchard are keeping dark secrets, fearing the man who accosted them will retaliate if they break their silence. The residents and his co-workers are oblivious to the stranger's dark side as he walks casually through his hometown. He makes plans with his risk-taking girlfriend. She not only obeys his menacing plan but breaks into an empty house to prepare for their 'date.' Their tryst is interrupted by violence. The pressure is on the Chief of Police, Roger Jorgenson, to find Lindsey's attacker while also solving the unsettling crime that followed too soon after her attack. Is there a connection? Striking Silence follows the lives of those choking on fear and needing help to learn to breathe on their own again.
