Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB) are primary source of sugar consumption and the proportion of people consuming SSBs are steadily increasing. The health concerns of sugar-sweetened beverages are well known, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and dental caries. However, the effect of sugar-sweetened beverages consumption on bone health, which is difficult to confirm with the naked eye and progresses slowly, did not gain much attention. This book comprehensively covers the effects of sugar-sweetened beverages consumption on bone mineral density, bone mineral contents and bone fracture in not only children but also adults. Most of the studies on the association between sugar-sweetened beverages and bone health published so far through systematic review of the literature were included, and through meta-analysis, we found that the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages was associated with lower bone density.
