Supplement the books with a subscription to 30+ hours of step-by-step teaching videos ($9/mo. or $60/yr.). The videos provide direct instruction from an experienced teacher whenever you need additional guidance. Each book is split into 2 parts: 1) Guided Discovery Scenarios, and 2) Homework and Extra Practice Scenarios. The Guided Discovery Scenarios gradually develop new concepts, building on previously learned topics. The Homework and Extra Practice Scenarios improve your understanding and increase your ability to retain what you have learned. Each part has a separate Answer Key, which is included to promote learning. When you finish each scenario, you can check the Answer Key to see if you are ready to move on or if you need more guidance.

Book description:
This book introduces you to functions to build a foundation for learning about specific types of functions in later Summit Math books. Using a wide variety of scenarios that involve functions, this book shows you how to identify increasing, decreasing and constant intervals as well as the domain and range of a function. Without using the phrase "piecewise functions," this book develops an introductory understanding of what they are by guiding you through the process of graphing only part of a function and thinking about how to restrict the domain. Each concept is developed gradually to show that new ideas build on topics you are already familiar with.
