There's a place in our community where the hungry are fed, the homeless are sheltered, and the abandoned are given care. It's the P.A.W.S. of Dearborn County Humane Center, which provides comfort and care for our community's unwanted animals. These books of unwanted pets, being healed and rehomed, form a beginning collection of stories showing the real differences in lives, of both pets and humans, that is done by the entire P.A.W.S. community. In this series of books, I follow each pet, from its prior home; describe the medical, loving work done at P.A.W.S of Dearborn County Humane Center; and then to their new life; the placement of the pet in its furever home. My job is to tell the stories of the many dogs and cats who have been adopted through P.A.W.S., to new homes or service work by interviewing the adoptees who have some amazing stories to tell. Surli's Story is a story of a young dog, who had never had a happy home and lived in a junkyard with his mom. His mom died when he was young and then he got caught up in a gang running wild. All that ended when he was taken to PAWS, a community of people who love animals. They helped him and worked on his manners to find him a new home. But how would a strong 180 pound pit bull dog ever have any luck being picked for a new home. Could Surli ever find happiness? Read this and see; and if he did; just how did it happen?
