This book project is a collection of narratives written by women and people of color whose voices have been silenced in the higher educational system. Each chapter tells of struggle, hope, or both as the authors unpack their experiences with the dominating white, patriarchal culture in the United States and abroad. What began from the editor's own personal experiences, grew into a place created for all of us to hear the voices of the oppressed and suppressed. In hearing these collective voices, we might begin to listen, and with listening comes the opportunity of understanding, and with understanding comes the hope for change.
