The
Tazmania Freestyle
series, initially presented by
Hot Productions
and then shifted over to
Metropolitan
, is geared toward dedicated fans of
freestyle
who aren't necessarily purists who declared the style bankrupt in the late '80s or early '90s. As long they haven't grown tired of a few stock production tricks or the overly demonstrative emotional outpourings -- in other words, the basic makings of most
classics from years before -- they should be able to take at least a couple tracks from each volume to heart.
Freestyle
comps are almost always a dicey proposition; very few are strong from front to back, and this series is no different. Most of the tracks on the discs in the series were made long after
's most creative phase. Tracks featured on the first volume include
Pure Pleazure
's
"Will You Come Back to Me,"
Yanda
"Stay With Me,"
Stefanie Bennett
"Don't Let Me Go,"
Magma
"Give It to Me,"
and
Ricky Villafane
"Feel the Power in My Soul."
