In this action-packed mystery, set in 1881, Roland Mason- attorney at law in Laramie, Wyoming- tries to sort out his relationship with store owner Constance Sweeny, but the town is abuzz about a baseball game between a team from Colorado Springs and a newly formed team from Laramie. When Roland gets involved in a series of pranks between the teams, he finds himself being forced to prevent any further mischief or go to jail. At the same time, the Laramie saloons host a poker tournament, which gives rise to rumors that one or more of the gamblers is fixing the baseball game. Can Mason figure out a way to sort out the pranks, the gamblers, and his own feelings for the widow Sweeny?
