He is thrust into a world of adventure and fantasy when his loyal dog Ralph begins to talk and he discovers his dad is in danger.Who are the sinister race of creatures that kidnapped Mr Adler? Why do they grow the curious herb, Black Fire? And how can Andrew and Ralph stop the disastrous - and sometimes funny - effect Black Fire is having on the human population? With the clever Ralph as his companion, Andrew discovers the vast and mysterious underground world of Vellistrian, and the powerful and ancient race of the Pisal. But will Andrew have the courage to confront his own fears and save the world from destruction? This coming of age story and the first of an Australian-based series will appeal to readers who enjoy Harry Potter, How to Train your Dragon and the various stories of Neil Gaiman. Scroll to the top, grab your copy today and join the Black Fire Chronicles team! What readers are saying:
Since the author is Australian, it gives the book a unique flavor, adding to the interest. This is a fun, age-appropriate book for kids 8-12. It is filled with action, an interesting plot, a realistic main character, and plenty of bad guys. It held my interest from beginning to end. The ending keeps the reader wondering until the very last lines--a good wrap-up, leaving no dangling ends. If you love it and want more, there is another book with more adventures. It is a clean book for your kids.
