At the age of nineteen, Instaurator had a dead-end job working in a dusty warehouse and failed to gain entry into university. It was then that he decided he wanted a career that included travel, and in an industry that was relatively clean. He had no other definite business or life plan. At age twenty-two, he stumbled into coffee roasting, and at the age of twenty-seven, he was appointed CEO of a business. Since then, he has fulfilled his vision and traveled from Down Under to countries including Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, India, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Central America, Korea, Japan, China, and regularly to New Zealand, the US, and Europe as a self-employed coffee entrepreneur. He has built up businesses, adding hundreds of millions of dollars in equity for their owners. In 2004, he was appointed executive director of the World Barista Championship in Trieste, Italy, and a few years later, he was practically bankrupt. He began a new start-up business called Espressology in 2008, the year of the global financial crisis, that has gone on to succeed. He is happily married to his wife of thirty-eight years and has four healthy, well-adjusted adult children.
