"Wealthy Don Wright, fearless publisher, interests himself in the welfare of his country, but as
Captain Freedom, he fights those who oppose liberty". Captain Freedom was often joined by a cadre of newspaper-selling kids called the Young Defenders. Captain Freedom battled a variety of gangsters, Axis saboteurs, killer clowns, and a host of ne'er-do-wells.
CAPTAIN FREEDOM first appeared in SPEED COMICS #13, published in May of 1941 and would be a regular feature through the title's end with issue #44. The covers were crafted by powerhouse talents Joe Simon, Al Avison and Alex Schomburg. The interior artwork was often composed by
Arturo Cazeneuve, Pierce Rice, Ernie Schroeder or Bob Powell,
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents.
