It's a dog's life for Rolo, Barbie, and Smartie, the three canines who star in this work of children's illustrated fiction. One moment they're enjoying an ordinary life of dog walking, food, and lots of tummy rubs, and the next their pets up and leave to go on holiday!
In their place come three strangers (presumably animal lovers although nothing is certain in these dark times) to fill in as 'pets at home' until the end of the holiday. But Rolo isn't satisfied with these pet sitting intruders, and calls a meeting to decide what to do about them. But his views on the matter might just be overridden by the others, who have already started to succumb to the insidious bribery of the visitors.
Still, stuck with a dog's life and confined like all the other pets at home, he has no choice but to acquiesce to his part in this animal adventure. Against his better judgement, he even finds himself warming up to the pet sitting animal lovers who have come to guard the house. And when something happens to shake the entire household to the core, Rolo might end up very grateful that these strangers have come to take care of them after all...
