Kayla Evans is now a college student in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, only a few miles from the Amish King family, who had been so welcoming when she and her family lost control of their vehicle during a blizzard the past winter. She and David King, the Amish son, find their attraction for each other does not diminish, though they come from separate worlds. Kayla, daughter of a rich attorney, lives in Westchester County, New York with her parents and a younger brother, Andy. Unfortunately, Kayla's parents argue constantly, and she fears they may separate, leaving her brother alone to deal with the situation while she remains in school. David's grandparents now live in a dawdi haus next to their farm and his grandmother spends much time helping her daughter-in-law with her new baby. The family discovers that a member of the family has a twin, who comes out of the shadows and desires to re-unite. After the hurts of the years, will forgiveness take place and reconciliation follow? When David decides to further his career, it causes dissension in his family. Will he pursue his interest in veterinary medicine or accept his life as an Amish man? What would happen if he and Kayla became serious and wanted to marry?
