Lucas was a very interested and curious little boy who was always ready to learn something new. He had explored almost every inch of the nearby trees by the time he was eleven. On a sunny afternoon, though, he saw something strange. He saw a strange track he had never seen before as he walked through the well-known trees. Because it was narrow and winding and there was a thick layer of green moss on the ground, it looked almost magical. That's why Lucas picked this mysterious path: he loved adventure and speed. With each step, the grass under his shoes squished softly, and the trees seemed to lean in closer, as if they were also interested in this brave explorer. As Lucas went deeper into the trees, he thought he was entering a different world. Beautiful, mottled patterns of sunlight lit up the trees and plants, and the sound of birds singing seemed to encourage him to keep going. It only took a few minutes, but it felt like a long time. Then Lucas saw something strange off in the distance. The rusty gate to what looked like an amusement park was hidden in the trees. With each step, Lucas could tell that the park was old. The paint on the sign was coming off in chunks, and plants were climbing up the gate. He knew the word, though: "The Devil's Playground." The sound of it scared him to death, but his brave heart was beating fast with excitement. Who would give an entertainment park such a scary name? And why was it secret all this time, making it look like everyone had missed it? Lucas had a lot of questions in his head. He thought about it for a second before he stood in front of the gate. It seemed like the park was too quiet, which was strange. There wasn't any laughing or other signs of happiness that you'd expect to see. Instead, there was a silence that made Lucas want to go inside and find out what was going on.
