In the closing years of the twentieth century, members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have showed a renewed interest in exploring the basic beliefs that shape our faith. As we broaden our ecumenical involvements and reflect on the history through which God has led us, we also seek to enlarge our vision of the mission to which God calls the church in our time.
This book is a study guide to the Preamble to
The Design for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
and is meant to engage Disciples in thinking responsibly about the faith we affirm in the light of our heritage and in the context of today.
Designed both for individual reading and group study,
The Faith We Affirm
is made up of six chapters that can be used for an intensive six-session course or divided to supply a quarter's study. Questions for discussion and reflection end each chapter.
