A journey of uncertainty. Sometime in January 1985, the war forced me to leave my birthplace—and that was a new chapter of my life's journey. I had no idea where I was going; the event was out of my imagination. My only goal was to survive the war, but leaving my family behind was unimaginable—I had lost our togetherness, the sunrise, my birth city, and everything in-between forever. A new road I will ride on alone began. The new world has become a reality. I was entering an unfamiliar world where I would meet new people and learn a new language. These were the challenges ahead of me. Running to North Sudan by myself would be suicidal. Our enemy's goal was to destroy us (our identity) and anything rooted in African culture or belief, and God failed to protect us. My question has always been, "what part of human life does God protect or concern Himself with?" Is He natural? Does He have a soul, feelings, or emotions, and does He even exist?
