The way to a man's heart is through stomach, and in order to win that heart, what goes in there should be of great benefit and of little or no harm. Hence the study of human gut microbiota is fascinating and it is a new and trending area of research. Our knowledge of the human gut microbiota made it imperative to know and understand the human physiological functions that directly wields impact on our health. What is pleasing to note is the fact that our gut microbiota helps: to eventually digest the undigested food substances that passed through the stomach; produce some vitamins like the B and K vitamins; serve as a barrier effect on our immune system, augmenting body's defense mechanism while maintaining the wholeness of the intestinal mucosa and ensure proper digestive functioning.
