Through the stories of the author's adventures in the working world, from his first ever job to his last position before retirement; he has encompassed fifty years of personal successes and pitfalls that actually occurred in his real life. Ninety percent of the stories and anecdotes that the author related in this book are true and real to the best of his knowledge. The other ten percent were either lapses in memory or just words added for the flow of the narrative. Several of the jobs in the beginning of the book are menial or common and were short in time and content. However, they served to establish the backbone of the author's growth and demeanor. The positions that were longer in term and perseverance served as a basis of his self worth and assuredness. He mentions "self-actualization" several times in the book as a goal that he attempted to attain during certain periods of his working life. The author's idea of achieving self-actualization is when one finally learns who they are and what they are about and reaches the true potential that is in all of us. There were many obstacles in his working life that delayed the realization of this goal. However, the author learned from his mistakes, advanced in knowledge from the negatives, grew in self-confidence even through difficult times, and continued to increase in self-worth until he achieved his self-actualization objective. It wasn't easy, and it took almost forty years of his life to accomplish, but it was well worth the wait. The author's rationalization for completing this book was to "pass on" to the reader his knowledge through experiences in his working journey of the pitfalls and "bumps in the road" that will inevitably be part of everyone's path in life. His advice is to take on the challenges that are presented to you, fight through the adversities, do not accept failure, and become the outstanding individual that you know is inside of you. Explore the possibilities, and be the best you can be. Enjoy the read.
