With their sights set on the new colony of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, brothers Charles and Samuel Green leave their home in Tockington, England and head to the great American West. Upon docking in New Orleans, they find a letter from their brother Henry telling them he'll not be far behind and asks them to wait for him.
Deciding to wait, they set out to find their way in the hubbub of this diverse and animated city. Witnessing a two-wagon wreck, they calm the horses and men and subsequently are offered a job with LeBlanc Freight. Mr. LeBlanc observes the way Charles has with horses and the brothers' integrity and decides to help them start their own freight business.
Green Brothers Freight becomes a success. Their trips into Texas bring fun and excitement to the pair of farm boys. Not only do they earn enough to repay Mr. LeBlanc for the wagon and horses, they also repay his kindness by uncovering a conspiracy among his own workers.
As Henry joins the brothers in New Orleans, they must decide if the success of the freighting company will stop their original plans.
