Tim Wheater, known primarily as a flautist and composer, uses his mellifluous speaking voice to read the love poetry of Carl Sandburg, backed by Michael Hoppe's dreamy piano and synth playing. The complexity of emotion in both the poetry and in Hoppe's compositions carries the collaboration. "The Unforgetting Heart" (which originally appeared, in a different arrangement, on Hoppe's album of the same name) spotlights some outstanding classical guitar work from Kenton Youngstrom, and three musical interludes showcase Heidi Fielding's unearthly soprano.
