The Magnetic Girl:
Norah O'Grady is the "magnetic girl." In other words, that unattractive young lady becomes possessed of a mysterious charm which makes so lovely that every male creature she comes near falls madly in love with her. This means trouble. The trouble is treated in mirth-provoking way by Marsh, who seems revel in the complications he creates. The charm at last loses its efficacy, and Norah becomes and uninteresting again. But her first true original lover Ben Morgan—Crooked Ben—remains true to her and the book ends with reflection, "How awful it would have been everyone I met had kept on falling in love me—high and low, married and single, young and old—when I wanted to be loved by no one else but Ben."
