Stoop, which betokened weakness, or a long and assiduous leaning over his books. His complexion was dark, his face sallow, as with sickness his jet-black hair was already thickly streaked with the white monitors of time; but his features were handsome, intellectually handsome, and they wore a singular expres sion of mildness and unworldliness. The lady was of a fuller figure, and a very different style of person. Her complexion was fair, her colour almost approaching to florid, her features had a soft and rounded mould, and her large hazel eyes a quiet and observant expression, denoting not only great amiability, but intelligence and good sense.
