"A psychological thriller from the director of the twisty suspenser Open Your Eyes (currently remade as Vanilla Sky, starring Tom Cruise), The Others takes place in a cold, cavernous mansion in the Isle of Jersey, in Britain's Channel Islands, following the days of the Second World War. Grace (Nicole Kidman) resides there with her two young children, awaiting word of Grace's husband, who may or may not return from the war any time soon. Three servants, replacing other departed ones, arrive and the family attempts to settle in, but since the children suffer from photosensitivity, the house must remain very dark, with only natural light provided from inside. Grace's daughter then claims she sees ghosts, which Grace simply won't believe due to her religious beliefs. After dismissing her young daughter, Grace begins to find the house creating noises, such as a piano playing itself, and she attempts to find out why the house is creating such disturbances. The film features Alakina Mann and James Bentley as Grace's young children, and Fionnula Flanagan as a stern nanny who assists Grace in sheltering them from the dangers of the intruders."
