Here it is! The 700 page dessert of the story. This is the part in which Emanuel nervously commences his ministry. He works quietly to make better the lives of people that need his help but do not know of his help. As Emanuel performs his work as given him by Jesus, he encounters dozens and then hundreds of people in pain or distress, leaving all of them better off for his presence. In time the country and then the world begin to take slight notice of sensational - impossible and dismissible - reports of phenomena not heard of or recorded since the time of Christ.
Emanuel's life expands to become far more varied and challenging than he could have ever even imagined. If you thought his life from this day forward would be one of smooth sailing and joy, you could not be more wrong. He has embarked on a never-ending and difficult journey, a ministry fraught with complications and risks. Yet he works to help those that need it most. People only minutes away from dying simply stand up and walk away to the utter astonishment of doctors, nurses and family.
Emanuel continues to silently account for what more and more people around the world are beginning to breathlessly and legitimately describe as miracles. The dawning realization that reports of healings are likely true causes people in every country to become afraid. The Vatican is helpless to explain these things, for such works are completely beyond scripture. Prelates shout at prelates in their worry and fear.
The hunt is on for the one responsible for these things. Some rejoice in the news of miraculous healings; others are terrified. Eventually, churches, synagogues and mosques are jammed with worshipers that fear the end of the world is upon them, that they are to take these signs as a reason to repent. Through it all, Emanuel continues to do as he was commanded. The world is in an uproar over his work and begins to panic. And then the light of the world touches the world again.
