In this taut and thought-provoking New Zealand sci-fi thriller, a scientist experiments with a radical new power source, a band of energy that would circle the planet, and ends up causing nearly every creature, including people, on Earth to vanish into an unknown dimension. Finding the solitude maddening, he begins searching New Zealand. He finds a young woman and they begin a passionate affair. Later they find a Maori, and together the three try to figure out how to restore the Earth to its former state.
