This work is part of the Discourse, Gender and Memory line of research and its main purpose is to discuss the (re)construction of discursive ethos in evangelical preaching. Taking as its theoretical basis the postulates of French AD and presenting as its corpus of analysis an evangelical religious sermon delivered in English and interpreted into Portuguese, the research aimed to carry out a study that would make it possible to analyze the mediation exercised twice in this discourse, firstly by the preacher (mediation 1) and then by the interpreter (mediation 2). The aim was also to verify the implications of each of these mediations in the (re)construction of the discursive ethos in evangelical preaching. This work is justified, in the first instance, by the scarcity of research into religious discourse and, in the second instance, by the need to develop research into interpretation, understood in this study as the act of translating orally into another language a speech delivered in the original language.
