Then the voice ceased, nor was it heard again on Attic soil. The voices of the masters of the past broke forth anew, clearer and more insistent to be heard and understood. But the pilgrim's heart was full, with a gratitude which he could not express. For now he knew whose secret musings he had overheard. It was the voice of his old guide, his guide to the heart of Greece.
