: The "break-in" at the McIntyre twins' home was supposed to be a joke. But, "John Smith" is caught in the act, arrested, and brought before the court. The Judge finds enough evidence to warrant a trial, and all involved start to leave. But, "Smith" gasps for water, falls to the floor shortly thereafter, and is dead! "Smith" turns out to be not only a disguised friend of one of the twins, but a bank teller who becomes a suspect, albeit a dead one, in a theft of valuable stock certificates. At the same time, the family attorney disappears, and he becomes suspected of murdering "Smith." One after the other, friends and family are caught up in what, at the beginning, seemed like a harmless prank. The answer may be contained inside an envelope with a Red Seal. By the end of the story, no one is laughing anymore.
