From the author of the Gods Are Bastards series: The wickedly funny action-adventure portal fantasy continues—and things can only get worse . .
.
Not long ago, Seiji was an ill-tempered, misanthropic man at war with the world. But then he was transported to a strange, savage realm for the purpose of literally
making war on the world.
In this reality, he’s an extremely reluctant evil overlord with a temperamental goddess patron to please.
So in spite of his own natural unpleasantness, Seiji has tried to be the best bad guy he can be: providing for the downtrodden, offering healthcare to hookers, that sort of thing. Which has won him some staunch (but still diabolical) allies and a hell of a lot of enemies. Especially his main competitor in chaos and crime, Lady Gray, who really didn’t appreciate being displaced by him.
But Seiji’s coming to realize that despite his brash, bold exterior, his very human psyche is taking a serious beating from the extreme brutality he’s committed and witnessed. In fact, he’s starting to wonder if being such a big bad dude is all it’s cracked up to be—or if there’s any way out of all this . . .
