The second book of the series brings both old enemies and new challenges for our heroes: Chrissa Spencer; her lover, Jared; and their many friends and allies. Jared has never been so happy. He has met his soul mate and intends to ask for Chrissa's hand in marriage, but before Jared can gather the courage to tell his father of his plans, wolf howls distract him. There are wolves in Endsearch. It is the portent of everything to come. The wolves are the Namairi. The two highly intelligent creatures are on a mission of their own. As they lead the mummer Tashlin deep into the ensorcelled Ravenswood Forest, they tell her that they have news of the Fallen Gibrian. Back at Treywood Castle, Jared must guard against the machinations of the evil king, William the Black, and his brother's dark rival, Dane Taylor. Dane would do anything to defeat Christoff and Jared, and there are dark forces that would use that hatred for their own ends. As events converge in the forest and at the castle, Jared, Chrissa, Tashlin, Christoff, and the Black Ghost will all play an important role in the war to come.
