Twelve-year-old Dusty hates unreasonable rules, criticism, and his stepfather. He wants to feel successful and be appreciated. In a dream he learns that he and his friends must find the lost 'Shards of Athenia' to keep them away from evil people.
Teleported to Crystalyte, a medieval planet, Dusty's unhappiness is replaced with a fight for survival as his quest begins.
