It features country anthologies of newly sourced writing in English, edited and presented with a critical and historical introduction. The first four volumes in the series concentrate on contemporary African writing. The title story of the Uganda volume, "Butterfly Dreams", was shortlisted for The Caine Prize for African Writing in 2011.
