The Story of Red Feather
tells the tale of Melville Clarendon, a young man of sixteen and his sister Dorothy, about eight, who find themselves orphaned when the Sioux capture and take their parents. They are befriended by Red Feather, a member of the tribe that had attacked their family. Together, Melville and Red Feather ward off numerous forays of less-than-friendly Indians.
