The deadliest shooting in the history of Ellingsworth takes place one cold night in June. And to make matters worse it was on the line between Precinct 9 and Precinct 10, but the police chief is determined to not let a fight brake out over whose case it is. He has captains of both precincts to assign their best narcotics and homicide detectives to the case. Detective Ariel Jackson gets her call at a little past two in the morning, Captain Wells telling her that she and her apprentice, Briella Mathers need to get to the crime scene as quickly as they can.
This case brings its own new stresses and troubles, starting with working with detectives from a different precinct. The stress gets worse when the media learns that the crime could be connected with the most powerful group of people in the city. Can they and Narcotics detective Sylvan Watt solve this case? Or will this case be the first that Bri has to put in the cold case room?
