THE TIME OF LONG SHADOWS is set in a world called Aarden by its inhabitants. The story centers around a young man named Gorrenn. He is the son of a farmer. The farm is on the single large continent of Malitok. His life suddenly undergoes a dramatic set of changes. He finds out that he is not who he thinks he is. Through a string of adventures, Gorrenn discovers that he has abilities that he never knew he had. This is the result of a unique form of genetic inheritance on Aarden. Instead of being a farmer, he finds himself to be the scion of a great family of Warriors. The Warriors exist to battle the Giants, creatures who cannot live anywhere men live. The Giant population is very low, but they are still a grave threat. The cultural and political situation on Malitok is rapidly changing. War between men looms on the horizon. People that have helped Gorrenn are subject to constant menace. As Gorrenn continues his journey of self-discovery, the world in which he lives is quickly evolving into something utterly unexpected. Gorrenn's character is designed to draw younger readers into this wonderful adventure series through a relatable perspective. THE TIME OF LONG SHADOWS takes the reader through the growth of the central character, as a Warrior, and as a man.
