This hardbound Torah is specifically designed to be a simple modern source in the standard Hebrew script. It leverages extremely readable typography so that you can even learn Hebrew as you read. It is written in a modern style using all punctuation, formatting, and diacritics. It is without anything else other than the bare essentials, so you can be immersed in the language and avoid assuming that the formatting of the text has always been a certain way. The Torah (תּוֹרָה) is the first 5 books of the Old Testament or Pentateuch . The word Torah derives from the Hebrew root ירה, "to guide", so this set is basically "The Guide". The Torah is, to this day, written on a scroll read from regularly. This scroll is called the Sefer Torah, and we have a book version of the Torah that resembles the style you would see there as well. This version you're looking at now is a more modern style where we took the freedom to optimize page count as well as typography. But in the Sefer Torah we tried to match the style closely while still remaining a book. Also see our reconstructions of The Book of Genesis (בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית) where we took our research into the ancient days of Hieroglyphs and Phoenician Script and designed a prototype of what the original notes may have looked like on Mount Sinai in the days of Moses. This text is from The Sefaria Library.
