The 11th and final Jazzology set that documents all of
Eddie Condon's
legendary Town Hall concerts of 1944-45 is a three-CD release. In addition to having five complete shows, there are a couple of briefer demo programs that were never aired before. Although not containing as many heights (or guest artists) as previous programs, there is plenty of exciting "Americondon" music to be heard on the final few of his 46 Town Hall concerts. Among the many top players are trumpeters
Max Kaminsky
,
Billy Butterfield
and
Muggsy Spanier
, trombonists
Lou McGarity
Miff Mole
Vernon Brown
, clarinetists
Pee Wee Russell
Edmond Hall
, baritonist
Ernie Caceres
, pianists
Jess Stacy
Joe Bushkin
Gene Scroeder
, drummers
George Wettling
Big Sid Catlett
and singers
Red McKenzie
Lee Wiley
. Trad jazz fans are well advised to pick up this entire series (which numbers 23 CDs). ~ Scott Yanow
