Javier is about to commit his first hit for his gang. If he fails, he and his brother and mother will starve. But before the thirteen-year-old can pull the trigger, he is child-snatched from the 22nd-century ghetto of Bayarea and brought to live in the California desert with a village of naked stone-age hunter-gatherers. He has to learn how to shoot an arrow and survive . He has to decide if he wants to marry the young women who love him. And when he secretly returns to Bayarea and accidentally lanches a war between the city and the villages, he has to figure out a way to save himself and the people he loves.
