When the parents of a Norse family are killed by Viking raiders the four surviving children are forced to flee for their lives. They then embark upon an incredible journey in search of the Weavers of Time - the fabled Norns - who alone can restore their mother and father to them. Before reaching Asgard the realm of the gods, Thorkel, Gudrid, Kelt and Little Freya must cross Jotunheim the land of the giants, where many dangers await them. However, when all seems lost, Kara the Valkyrie decides to help - only to find that she herself is now in dire peril. Soon the whole Viking world is under threat from Hel the evil queen of the Underworld.
