At the western end of the site the land rises abruptly to a height of more than one hundred and fifty feet. To the east (downstream) there is a gradual lowering of the land sur face through a succession of small, irregular terraces, to a fairly wide, flat, flood plain. Land across the river to the North of the site, consists of a single terrace, eight feet above the river, lying on the same plane as Lamb~5 (fig. On this terrace are located two sites, Strum-1 and 2 (47~sc~14 and Both sites were under cultivation at the time Lamb~ 5 was excavated.
