As I was writing this book, I realized that my grandmother was a soft girl. She taught me to be the same but not thru instruction. Instead, she taught me about self-care and how to treat oneself well just by living her life before me. Some of the ways she treated herself was with travel, dressing in beautiful clothes and shoes, and having her hair perfectly coiffed and nails perfectly manicured when she went out. She made herself a priority despite being the very best mother and grandmother. Demonstrating for me what it looked like to really love and value yourself was a huge lesson. She lived life to the fullest on her own terms and taught me that as well.
In the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 7:2-11, Jesus lists the beatitudes. Well my grandmother had her very own "BE" attitudes for which she lived by.. In Things My Grandmother Taught Me: A Memoir for Soft Girls, I share all seven "BE" attitudes that I gleaned from watching my grandmother live life. Perhaps you have your very own set of "BE" attitudes. I also share the many other things that my grandmother taught others like her nieces, friends, and other granddaughters. I invite you to learn from my grandmother, a soft girl living her very best life, who taught me how to live mine as well.
