Bakthavatchala Bharathi praises this book as the fruitful result of social science. All the marriages of Sangam era were institutionalized, and these were recorded in the literature of that period. The author analyses them with the tools of social anthropology. Before Kailasapathi the Valor Era songs, and Before Ka. Sivathambi Tamil Drama, were not attributed the value they have today. Similarly, though there are many researches works published on Tamil marriages, this book sheds new light on the subject and leads us to a better understanding.
