Summer vacation is coming to an end and Tiana and Briana are about to start fifth grade. The girls are used to starting a new school year, but this is their first time ever being the new girls at a new school. The first day of school brings nervousness the girls didn't know existed but it also introduces them to a girl named Rosa. Rosa, by all appearances, seems like a nice enough girl but sometimes first impressions don't allow you to see the whole picture. When Rosa writes a short essay on finding a true friend, the girls along with their buddies, Max and Brandon, wonder why a nice girl like Rosa doesn't have any friends. Making friends can't be that hard or can it? When Rosa tries to become like everyone she meets, the gang set out to help her find the real Rosa and along the way devise a plan to allow all kids to find their identity and be proud of who they are.
