One gospel book may leave out parts that others include or may add something that none of the others have included. From this book it is hoped that you will be able to compare and contrast one gospel writer's view of an event with another. For example, you will find that though Mark covers fewer events in the life of Christ, he usually includes more detail. He covers more of the humanity of Christ, more pathos. For example, in the healing of Jairus' twelve year old daughter, Mathew simply states she died. But with Mark we hear Jairus pleading with Christ his beloved young daughter is dying, then Jesus is delayed to heal another, and then Jairus is told she had died and why bother Jesus. We feel the pain of Jairus. Many harmonies of the gospels only cover the Synoptic Gospels- Matthew, Mark, and Luke. This is because although the first three gospels relate similar events, John seldom covers the same events at the others. But if you want to study the life of Christ, then you need all three. For example, when Jesus was arrested in the garden, Matthew and Mark only saw someone cut off an ear. But with Luke, being a physician, specifies the right ear. And John adds that it was Peter that wielded the sword (was Peter left handed?) and that the servant's name was Malchus. Without all four we would not have the entire story. If you are reading only one book at a time you may be missing a lot. This is volume 1 of a 5 volume set. Each event in the Life of Christ is covered with side by side listing of all gospel verses covering the event. You will gain a deeper and more insightful view of Christ as you read all gospel accounts of each event. In the series of Unified Gospel you will find an extensive biblical cross reference to each verse in the bible (Volume2), list of things like the parables of Christ, his miracles, old testament prophecies and so on (Volume 3), a combined abridged easy reading compiled from all four gospels (Volume 4), and word studies and historic context of gospel events (Volume 5).
