A taste of what's inside HAMMER DOWN Lately, I've noticed quite a few husband and wife driving teams, which got me to thinking about what a neat way it would be to see the country. "Why couldn't we do that?" I asked my wife ... "How about the dogs?" she asked. "What would we do with them? And the cats, too." "Heck, I suppose we'd bring them along," I reasoned, trying to picture two people, two dogs, and three cats riding down the highway, all of us sitting way up high in our huge bright blue cab, or even a red one, looking down on the little cars we would be passing... "Tell you what," she said. "You be sure and write." THE DOCTOR WILL BE WITH YOU IN A MOMENT Having learned what a "moment" means, I check through the pile of mostly old Reader's Digests and Ladies Home Journals, and, would you believe it, a late 2002 copy of People Magazine with a picture of Marilyn Monroe on the cover. Beneath the picture is says that on page 38 there is an article telling all about Marilyn and her romance with Joe DiMaggio, and how she helped him with his batting average. So, I turn to page 38 and there's a picture of the happy couple, she with a rose in her hair, and he with a bat on his shoulder. Right away I began to sense the likelihood that there is some truth to the article. Why else would Joe be holding a bat?
